Summer Reading is back and better than ever!

Register on Beanstack to log minutes reading, write reviews, and complete fun at-home activities to earn raffle tickets for one of our fabulous grand prizes.

Kids Programs


Outdoor Story Time: registration required Tuesday & Thursday @ 10:30am June 29 through August 26 Miss Ellyn is taking Story Time outside! Come enjoy some old and new favorites and classic story time songs on our sunny back lawn. Miss Ellyn will have a microphone and speaker set up. Space will be limited. Afternoon STEM with Miss Amy: registration required Thursday’s weekly @ 1pm July 1st through 22nd Join us on the back porch for some fun STEM experiments hosted by Miss Amy! All materials will be provided by the library, all you need to bring is yourself and a mind ready to learn. Registration will be limited to 10 participants. Aimed at children grades 1-4. Take & Make for Kids Mondays weekly June 28 through August 23, while supplies last We're putting together fun and engaging activity packets for you to take home and enjoy together throughout the summer. Kids bags will be available weekly while supplies last and will require no registration. Stuffed Animal Sleepover: registration required Drop-Off Tue, July 27 & Pickup Wed, July 28 All your favorite stuffed animal friends are invited to spend a wild night in the library. They'll enjoy a story time with Miss Ellyn, snack on some late night treats, and have lots of fun romping through the library. We'll take pictures to show you all the fun they have and you can pick them back up on Wednesday morning. Library @ the Park: registration required; hosted at Carpenter Park Pavilion Dance Party Story Time: Thursday, August 5 @ 6:30pm Adventure Aquarium: Wednesday, August 11 @ 6:30pm Eyes of the Wild: Tuesday, August 17 @ 6:30pm To celebrate our “Tails and Tales” Summer theme, we’re packing up and heading out to Carpenter Park for an animal-themed Dance Party Story Time and presentations from our friends from the Center for Aquatic Sciences at Adventure Aquarium on Wednesday, August 11 and Eyes of the Wild on Tuesday, August 17. Details on registration limits will be posted when it is available. A Visit from Kona Ice Friday, August 27 from 2-3:30pm Our friends at Kona Ice are stopping by from 2pm to 3:30pm to help up end Summer Reading with an icy treat.




Teen Programs


Take & Make for Teens Tue, July 6: Blackout Poetry Mon, July 19: Origami Mon, Aug 2: Clay Heroes Mon, Aug 16: Sharpie Mugs We're putting together fun and engaging craft packets for you to take home and enjoy together throughout the summer. Teen bags will be available bi-weekly with registration required. Secret Ingredient: registration required Pick up on Mon, Jul 12 & Mon, Aug 9 Adventurous cooks are invited to sign up to receive a secret, out-of-the-ordinary ingredient packet with a few recipe options to expand their palettes. Trying new recipes and ingredients can be difficult and often takes up extra cabinet space so we’ll provide enough for one meal and you can decide whether or not it will make your normal rotation. 30 teens and adults are invited to sign up online with pick up dates on Monday, July 12 and Monday, August 9. Teen Tie-Dye: registration required Wednesday, July 21 @ 2pm Bring your favorite stuff to tie-dye on our back lawn! We will provide the tie-dye kits. Registration will be limited to ten participants and each participant can tie-dye up to three things. A Visit from Kona Ice Friday, August 27 from 2-3:30pm Our friends at Kona Ice are stopping by from 2pm to 3:30pm to help up end Summer Reading with an icy treat.




Adult Programs


Netflix Discussion Group Tue, July 13 @ 7pm: My Octopus Teacher Tue, Aug 10 @ 7pm: Life in Color with David Attenborough Like a Book Club but for Netflix! We chose a few animal themed movies and series to watch and we'll discuss them out on the back lawn. Email bsotnyk@mclinc.org for more info and to let us know you're coming. Book Club Tue, July 27 @ 7pm: Wesley the Owl by Stacey O’Brien Tue, Aug 24 @ 7pm: My Family and Other Animals by Gerald Durrell Our longest running group is meeting during the summer this year!
