Holy nuggets. That’s all I can use to describe this story.
I’m not one to write reviews much, but this book deserves it. The burning mystery that Ashley Elston has created will be engraved in my mind. It has plot twists and turns that I don’t even see and curveballs that punch me right in the face that I still didn’t see coming. This is a story that has me on the edge of my seat and gasping in shock, thinking “NO WAY. NO FREAKING WAY,” or “Wait, hold up a second. WHAT??” And in a mystery novel, I’ve found that surprise is one of the best feelings, and Elston delivers it swiftly and flawlessly.
This book deserves a chef’s kiss. And that little romance between Shep and Kate lightens things up and gives a spin on the forbidden romance trope. A murder suspect and a prosecution intern at the DA’s office? I’m here for it. Plus, who doesn’t love a little romance? This is a book all about whodunnit, and I love it (hey that rhymes). I loved it more than I thought I would. If you’re willing to go on a rollercoaster of doubts and surprise and any emotion you could feel on the mystery book rollercoaster, I highly recommend this book for you!!
