The AARP VITA Tax Aide program offers low-income and elderly taxpayers help in preparing and filing Federal and State personal income tax returns. They also help with Pennsylvania Property Tax/Rent Rebate forms. Most help is by appointment at libraries, senior centers and other public places. For more information about the AARP VITA Tax Aide program and a list of locations, visit the AARP VITA Tax Aide website.
AARP VITA Tax Aide volunteers will be at the Horsham Township Library every Thursday from 10 AM to 3 PM from February 7 through April 11, 2013. Sign up for appointments at the library's check-out desk or call the library at 215-443-2609 to make an appointment. Bring the following items with you to your appointment: your Social Security number, your W-2 form (wage & tax statement), interest & dividend statements from banks & investments, statements of your Social Security income, pension, and/or IRA income, information about deductible expenses (such as medical bills and donations to charity). If possible, please also bring a copy of your tax returns from last year.
The Internal Revenue Service announced that individual and business taxpayers will no longer receive paper income tax packages in the mail from the IRS. These tax packages contained the forms, schedules and instructions for filing a paper income tax return. The Horsham Township Library will supply some of the most frequently requested forms as long as supplies are available from the IRS. Library patrons may print all IRS forms and instructions at their own expense (15¢ per page) from library Internet computers.
Click on this link to the Internal Revenue Service to access Federal tax forms, publications, and news about United States tax regulations. The full range of Federal tax forms can be down-loaded from the IRS website. Many of these are in a .PDF format that will permit you to enter information into the form on-line. The entire library of Federal tax information booklets is available at this website. These can be read on-line or printed out for future reference.
