Students who read for enjoyment during summer vacation not only have fun but keep more of the reading skills they learned during the past school year. In September, these students are more ready to forge ahead learning new things!

The Friends of the Horsham Library sponsor all of our great Summer Reading Club programs and prizes.

Here is how the Summer Reading Club works:

1. Register at the Horsham Township Library beginning Tuesday, June 8th and receive your Make a Splash or Making Waves Reading Record Packet.
2. Choose an Independent Reader packet for kids reading on their own (up to Grade 5), a Read-to-Me packet for parents and preschoolers reading together, or a Teen Reader packet for readers in Grade 6 and up. Keep track of all the reading you do at home between June 8th and August 6th. Read whatever you like -- the choice is yours!
3. Follow the instructions on your Reading Record for chances to win small prizes from the Splash Bin and raffle tickets for the Splash Zone Big Prize Drawing at the end of the summer. The more you read the more chances you earn! (Raffle tickets may be picked up between June 8th and August 6th. Winning tickets will be drawn after the last day of the Summer Reading Club.)
4. Come to as many of the great programs offered throughout the summer as you can! (Programs, dates and times are listed below.)

These are the Summer Reading Club activities for children and families planned at the Horsham Township Library.
Attendance at all programs is on a first come, first served basis.

Reading Olympics - 2010

Reading Olympics aims to increase students' reading for enjoyment. Students work with teammates to read forty to fifty books picked by a group of librarians, reading specialists and teachers. Then student teams answer questions about the books during county regional competitions. The Olympics are a celebration of reading where everybody wins!
