Students who read for enjoyment during summer vacation not only have fun but keep more of the reading skills they learned during the past school year. In September, these students are more ready to forge ahead learning new things!

The Friends of the Horsham Library sponsor all of our great Summer Reading Club programs and prizes.

Here is how the Summer Reading Club works:

1. Register on-line or at the Horsham Township Library. Go to the "Summer Reading Club" link and follow the registration instructions. On-line registration will be available starting

2. Beginning Monday, June 15th, keep track of the total minutes that you READ or LISTEN to books, magazines, and audiobooks. Try to read for at least 30 minutes every day! Log on to your online reading record and mark the total number of minutes that you read.

3. Log on to your reading record at least once a week to be eligible for the weekly Creative Readers drawing. 5 club members a week will win a cool prize!

4. Every time you reach 150 total minutes, the computer will let you know that you are eligible for a reffle ticket for the Grand Prize drawings at the end of the Summer Reading Club. Visit a volunteer of staff member at the library to claim your tickets. Keep reading The more time you read, the more tickets you earn!
Raffle tickets will be drawn for prizes on Friday, August 7th.
*Last day to pick up tickets.

5. Come to as many of the great events offered throughout the summer as you can! (Programs, dates and times are listed below.)

6. Club members who have participated in the program through to week 8 will be eligible for a Summer Reading Club goody bag, including a Reading Certificate!

Reading Olympics - 2009

Reading Olympics aims to increase students' reading for enjoyment. Students work with teammates to read forty to fifty books picked by a group of librarians, reading specialists and teachers. Then student teams answer questions about the books during county regional competitions. The Olympics are a celebration of reading where everybody wins!
