Would you like to add the MCLINC On-Line database to your list of Search Providers in your IE Browser? Here's how...

You can add the MCLINC Public Access On-Line Catalog as a search provider for IE 7.0's search tool on your browser toolbar. Once the On-Line Catalog is set up as a search provider, you can type a search term on the browser toolbar and select the MCLINC On-Line Catalog "provider." The search will be launched in the MCLINC catalog and will display the same search results you would see if you had first logged on to the MCLINC On-Line catalog and performed a search. This can save you several steps.

To set up the MCLINC On-Line Catalog as an IE 7.0 Search Provider, follow these steps:

1. Open your Internet Explorer Browser. Click the arrow by the search box on the right side of the browser toolbar, and select Find More Providers from the menu. The Add Search Providers page will open.
2. Following the instructions in the Create Your Own section of the page, open a new browser tab or window, and connect to the MCLINC On-line Catalog.
3. Set up your favorite kind of search -- keyword or browse, for example -- and search for TEST. (important: when you type in the term "TEST," enter it in all capital letters. Using lower case will trigger an error in the Internet Explorer "Create Your Own" Search Provider routine.)
4. When the search results appear, copy the URL that is displayed in the address box on the browser toolbar.
5. On the Add Search Provders page, paste the URL in the space provided in the Create Your Own section.
6. Type the name you want to use to identify the MCLINC On-Line catalog search provider (for example, MCLINC Keyword) in the space provided. This name will be displayed in the search menu on the browser toolbar.
7. Click install.

Now you can type a search term on the browser toolbar and select the MCLINC On-Line catalog search provider. Your search is launched in the MCLINC On-Line Catalog.

Following the same steps, you can set up a separate "search provider" for different types of catalog searches; for example, you can set up a search provider for a keyword search and another for a browse search.
