Students who read for enjoyment during summer vacation not only have fun but keep more of the reading skills they learned during the past school year. In September, these students are more ready to forge ahead learning new things!

The Friends of the Horsham Library sponsor all of our great Summer Reading Club programs and prizes.

Here is how the Summer Reading Club works:

1. Register at the Horsham Township Library beginning Monday, June 13th and receive your "One World, Many Stories" or "You Are Here" Reading Record Packet.
2. Club members who are Independent Readers (kids reading on their own and/or are in Grade k to 5 in Fall 2011) and Read-to-Me Readers (parents reading with preschoolers up to age 4 and not yet in Kindergarten) receive the "One World, Many Stories" packet. Club members who are Teen Readers (Grades 6-12 in Fall 2011) receive the "You Are Here" packet. Keep track of all the reading you do at home between June 13th and August 5th. Read whatever you like -- the choice is yours! Mark your Reading Record and record your book titles.
3. Follow the instructions on your Reading Record for chances to win small prizes from the One World, Many Stories Prize Bin and raffle tickets for the Big Prize Drawing at the end of the summer. The more you read the more chances you earn! (Raffle tickets may be picked up between June 13th and August 5th. Winning tickets will be drawn after the last day of the Summer Reading Club.)
4. Come to as many of the great programs offered throughout the summer as you can! (Programs, dates and times are listed below.)

Reading Olympics - 2011

Reading Olympics aims to increase students' reading for enjoyment. Students work with teammates to read forty to fifty books picked by a group of librarians, reading specialists and teachers. Then student teams answer questions about the books during county regional competitions. The Olympics are a celebration of reading where everybody wins!
